(The Color Purple)

Alice Walker's The Color Purple was an excellent novel. It is an example of a "Woman's novel" and it was written for all women in this world. Her novel shows the struggle of a black woman (Celie) to fine herself after being discouraged by many of the men in her family. If you have read this novel before, You should know life was not easy for Celie, but she still tried to get by . Many people may feel this book is about sex, nevertheless, this novel encourages all the women to stand up to fight with unjust treatment. This is the aim of the author to write this novel.

After I read this book, I think that the author was very successful in getting the message across because her book is very interesting in her writing style. She used the letter format and old language to build up the whole story. This book did not mention the setting of the story, however, we can find out if look at the writing style that was in the early 1900's. Further, she also did a good job with superb character development. She gave us a lot of details about what personalities of the characters are. She makes us easier to understand each character of the story. This novel allows us to share the character's innermost feelings and emotions as anger, envy, fear and joy. It made us feel distant from the characters and made us fall into the world of all of them, to share his or her feeling while reading it.

To pass through this book, I have imagined many pictures of each character of the story. As to me, Walker is an incredible author, her book truly belongs with some of the best novels in American literature.

To tell you the truth, this novel absolutely has many advantages transferred me when I finished The Color Purple. What I learned from Walker's novel was the different strategies of writing skill and the way of speech she used in the novel.
